Our client is a leading global skincare organization recognized for its premium products, education-driven culture, and strong reputation within the professional beauty and wellness space.
This role is hybrid with 3 days in office in downtown Toronto.
As Marketing Director, you’ll lead the strategy and day-to-day execution of marketing in Canada, building brand love, accelerating demand, and supporting growth across Professional Beauty, Specialty Retail, and ECommerce. You’ll lead and develop a high-performing team, partner closely with Sales, Education, and Operations, and ensure every program is on-brand, measurable, and well executed.
This role is a core member of the Canada Leadership Team, partnering with the General Manager and senior functional leaders to set direction, prioritize investments, and deliver short- and long-term business objectives. The Marketing Director is accountable for brand health, innovation performance, commercial impact, and people leadership across all Canadian channels. This role reports to the Canada General Manager.
What you should expect:- Partners with the General Manager to shape and communicate the short- and long-term marketing vision and plan.
Provides leadership through business direction, motivation, coaching, skill development, product knowledge, industry knowledge, competitive knowledge, and performance management.
Acts as the primary decision maker for marketing priorities, resolving cross-functional trade-offs and balancing competing company needs to protect brand integrity, improve resource effectiveness, and deliver commercial outcomes.
Owns the top-of-funnel paid media budget and integrated media plan across channels, with clear performance measurement (ROI and EMV).
Leads external agency and vendor partners (media, creative, PR, influencer) including briefing, deliverables, timelines, performance, and budget stewardship.
Works closely with sales management and education team to develop and implement tactical programs that optimize our selling and educational efforts in an omni channel environment.
With the PR and influencer team, responsible for PR, social media, and influencer management, including strategy, content planning, community management, and analytics across all channels.
Responsible for Canadian graphic designers, overseeing content creation and digital and print collateral.
Maintains ultimate accountability for end-to-end marketing execution, from ideation and design through production, launch, and communication. Ensures all brand assets, POS, training materials, product materials, and launch tools are delivered on time, on brand, and aligned to strategy across Professional, Retail, Flagship, and eCommerce channels.
Develops and executes 360° plans for all new product launches across consumer and professional channels, including measurement and post-mortems.
Champions launch-phase excellence, with a strong focus on early-stage impact and adoption. Develops compelling launch programs and promotional strategies, particularly within the professional channel, to drive momentum and deliver against sales targets.
Oversees development of all merchandising including flagship store vision, key retail partners , and Independent Salons. Responsible for merchandising execution in Canada across all channels.
Manages all trade marketing activities with the team including promotional plans and forecasting, Salon support programs, and communication flow.
Establishes and maintains an ROI-driven approach to marketing, spend allocation and managing expenses to budget.
Identifies key performance indicators required to track business performance and ensure the team is managing KPIs and budgets.
Champions the consumer and Professional Skin Therapist perspective, translating insights, trends, and category dynamics into actionable strategies that drive relevance, loyalty, and sustainable growth.
Develops complex go-to-market plans that prioritize projects and resources across multiple channels and objectives, including Professional Beauty, Specialty Retail, and ECommerce.
Develops brand campaigns, content, best practices, and go-to-market strategies to execute in Canada.
Ensures brand stewardship across all touchpoints, maintaining alignment to global brand standards and ensuring marketing content and claims meet required legal, regulatory, and partner guidelines.
Works with the Operations team to ensure availability of inventory to support marketing programs and calendars
People Leadership:- Directly manages the Canadian Marketing Team, including functional leads, individual contributors, and agency-managed partners across trade/retail, PR and events, social media, design, and media. Accountable for team structure, capability development, succession planning, performance management, and engagement.
Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
What you should bring:- A proven track record in Marketing at a leadership level with demonstrated achievements. BA with emphasis on Business Marketing and an MBA is preferred.
Significant evidence of progressive marketing management success with consumer beauty products in the professional and retail arena
Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment is highly preferred
Proven staff management and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead a team that delivers results and influence cross-functionally
Incredibly effective communication skills – including written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to collaborate with Canadian, North American and global teams.
Experience with omni channel business models, with a deep understanding of Professional Beauty, as well as Specialty Retailers and E-commerce.
Experience managing budgets and extensive business unit level P&L responsibility.
Other Skills and Abilities: - A charismatic leader and presenter who has a proven track record of sales performance and results.
Strong relationship builder.
Able to travel frequently by own car and plane for business purposes at least 15% of the time and on occasion, this will include weekends from time to time (with notice).
Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics skills (e.g., using Power BI) along with a familiarity and curiosity to use AI tools.
French speaking is a huge asset.
