Director, Marketing Strategy - AutoTrader.ca (TRADER Corporation)

Role Summary
As Director of Marketing Strategy, you own how B2C marketing drives growth in Canada. You will own a multi-million CA$ budget and be end-to-end accountable for marketing.
This is a strategy-led role with real commercial responsibility. You decide where to invest, where to pull back and how to improve performance across the funnel. You will work with specialists who execute campaigns, but you are responsible for setting direction and making the trade-offs. You will lead and develop a team, and work across a matrixed setup to align marketing, product, analytics and other stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Own multi-million CA$ consumer marketing budget in Canada.
- Be accountable for marketing outcomes - leads, sessions, brand impact.
- Define and drive full-funnel strategy - optimal channel mix; balance short-term demand and long-term brand.
- Set the standard for analytical rigor. Work hands-on with data, spot issues early, partner with analytics to investigate, and use insights to drive decisions.
- Lead brand and content marketing, including creative briefing, media planning briefing and impact measurement.
- Steer performance marketing via a central team. You decide where to push, pull back, and allocate budget.
- Lead monthly reviews with senior executives on marketing performance, risks and tradeoffs.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team.
What you'll need:
- 12+ years in marketing or growth strategy.
- Owned budgets and commercial outcomes with a track record of driving execution.
- Comfortable steering performance marketing teams or agencies, setting direction and holding them accountable for results.
- Managed brand investments (TV, OOH, audio) with clear impact.
- Strong analytical skills; comfortable de-averaging performance and drilling down into root causes.
- Led teams and developed talent.
- Confident presenting to and discussing tradeoffs with senior non-marketing executives.
